SOCARE® Slew Ring Bearings (especially rolling bearing) comprise structure with a cage or without cage. And the large-scale bearing requiring a larger load capacity is usually without the cage (but not always,need a cage or not is subject to the specific working conditions). Most of small and medium-sized rolling bearings have a cage.
We all know,the cage is also involved in the course of bearing processing , and what kind of role does a cage play in the bearing?
The cage's function as follow:
1.To guide and drive the rolling body in the right rolling raceway;
2.Cage separate the rolling body with equal distance, making it in the circle of raceway ,so as to prevent mutual collision and friction when it works.
3.Integrate the rolling body and ferrule together in the separation-bearing ,so as to prevent rolling off.
4.Orient the rolling body and decrease the friction during rotation
There are many structure type in the roller cage ,and their shape is complicated.There are so many pockets in the cage. Pocket shape are maybe round, oval, rectangular and tooth type, and so on, the size is bigger than the rolling body, the difference is the Pocket windage, and sometimes the connect segment between imported rolling cage’s window is called lintel which connects to maintain and increase the intensity of cage.
There are some different kinds of cages according to manufacturing technique and raw materials.
-Low and medium carbon steel cage
-Alloy steel cages include high strength copper alloy steel cages (Lead Brass,Nickel,Silicon Bronze,etc);zinc-aluminium alloy,etc
-Engineering plastic cages (Polyamide material)
-Phenolic bakelite entities cage (Phenolic laminated tube material)
The low and medium carbon steel cage is used most widely because of the efficient production,light weight and high strength features.
Slewing Bearing Spacers are used in the raceways of Slewing Bearings to separate the rolling bodies .It is a cylinder structure block with sockets in the both ends.
The spacers material is Nylon1010 ( polyamides ) and Polyethylene.The nylon 1010 is used more widely.It is called in short as PA1010.It is one kind of engineering plastics. It has nice self-lubrication and abrasive resistance,The temperature of brittleness conversion is low which is about -60°,and has high mechanical strength.In the meantime,PA1010 has perfect ductility and has nice impact performance of normal and low temperature.
The selection of spacers for Slewing Bearings should be subject to the specific working conditions ,generally speaking, if the Slewing Bearings are mounted vertically and with big tilting moment torque, integral cage is essential .If the Slewing Bearing is mounted horizontally and with light duty,the engineering plastic spacers will be best solution .
If the working condition is heavy duty,we advise to adopt the brass steel spacers.If the working condition is high temperature environment,we advise to adopt the steel spacers.
And if the Slewing Bearing lubrication is grease,PA1010 spacers are often adopted ;if the lubrication is oil,brass spacers are often adopted
